Does it hurt to get Mirena inserted?
Yes. On the "pain scale", i'd say a 5. It does hurt but not the whole time. My OB recommended I take an Iboprofen 15 minutes before the procedure. The good thing is that it doesn't take long to get it inserted.
It's good so far. I've had it almost 2 weeks. Mild cramping the first few days but that's about it.
Also good because though it hurts, it doesn't hurt more than giving birth to another baby.
If you are talking about getting an IUD then yes it hurt. For me the pain was worth the benefit. The pain while unpleasant didn't last but a few minutes and not having to worry about birth control for 10 years is wonderful.
Good luck!
